Include both files and data
Use your existing WordPress or hosting backup process to retain the site database and plugin files together. Floaty's saved settings and optional analytics live in WordPress's options storage; retaining only the plugin ZIP does not preserve them.
Before changing the configuration, record the enabled channels, intended contact details, appearance, page rules, timezone and schedule. Keep that record private where it contains internal contact details or custom CSS.
Rehearse restoration
Restore the site into an isolated staging environment using your backup provider's instructions. Check that Floaty is active, its settings are present and the channel destinations are still correct. Prevent the staging copy from being publicly indexed and review its contact links before allowing visitors to use it.
Floaty does not provide a full-site backup engine, a remote backup service or a one-click settings recovery tool. A backup job reporting success is useful only when its database and files can actually be restored.
If you plan to delete the plugin, take the backup first: WordPress's plugin-deletion process runs the supplied uninstall routine that removes Floaty's saved settings and analytics.
