Set up your own email connection
Fresh setup leaves SMTP disabled. Open Configuration → Settings & SMTP. Enter your provider's SMTP hostname, port, TLS mode, username, password and From email. Use the provider's approved sender identity.
STARTTLS commonly uses port 587 and TLS from connection commonly uses 465; use the values supplied by your provider. Saving a blank replacement password preserves an existing saved password. Keep credentials out of screenshots and support posts.
Choose global or business settings
The global profile can be used by every business. Use This SMTP Account for All Businesses controls its override. Review Businesses & SMTP for business-specific profiles and sender details. Set notification recipients deliberately so customer information reaches the right team.
Confirm receipt
Save the configuration and send a test to a mailbox you control. SMTP acceptance is only one step: confirm the message arrives, check spam, and verify the From and Reply-To addresses. Review Email Logs for sent and failed attempts. Check your email provider's sender verification, SPF and DKIM instructions where delivery fails.
Then use synthetic data to test customer verification, a staff reply and the relevant quotation or application notification. Do not announce the customer portal until the verification method it uses works with your mailbox.
If no email arrives, follow Desk troubleshooting.
