Configure SMTP in Settings
Open Settings → General settings and find SMTP and email notifications. Enter your provider's hostname, port, transport security, username, password and sender email/name. A blank replacement password preserves the stored credential.
Save before using Send test email. Confirm receipt in a mailbox you control, including spam checks. Use your provider's approved sender identity and DNS authentication. Successful SMTP connection does not prove a customer received a message.
Enable the queue deliberately
Fresh setup leaves outgoing mail disabled. Review Enable notification email queue before turning it on. Review pending notifications and recipient access before allowing a restored or test copy to send mail.
Add the notification job once
Settings describes the five-minute worker. Replace the example paths with your site's PHP binary and installation directory:
*/5 * * * * /path/to/php /path/to/pcmo/bin/cron.php
Run it as the same Unix user and PHP version as the website. In hosting Cron Jobs, enter the schedule separately from the command. Do not add duplicate copies of the job.
This worker creates scheduled due-date reminders and sends queued email when enabled. Event-based in-app notifications do not require SMTP. The current worker creates one daily due reminder for eligible project/task owners beginning three days before a due date.
The one-minute licence check is a different job. Check both jobs after a hosting move, and test reminders with synthetic work before relying on them for live deadlines.
