Review click counts and troubleshoot Floaty

Understand optional local counters, privacy considerations and common display issues.

Review the analytics setting

Click counting is enabled by default in Floaty 1.0.0. Review the saved setting on the Analytics tab and turn it off if you do not need counts.

When enabled, the plugin stores aggregate per-channel totals and daily counts in your WordPress database. The click endpoint uses a short-lived salted hash derived from the request IP and channel for rate limiting. Your web host may process other request information, and contact links lead to services with their own privacy policies. Reflect the settings you use in your website privacy information.

Use Reset analytics to clear the saved counts. Local click counts are an operational indication; they do not confirm that a message, call or sale was completed.

Common issues

  • No widget: enable at least one channel with a contact detail, then check device, page, login and business-hour rules.
  • Wrong chat destination: confirm the channel detail and country code; WhatsApp expects digits only.
  • Wrong visibility time: check the WordPress timezone, schedule and full-page cache.
  • Buttons behind another element: review the Appearance tab Z-index and test with your theme.
  • Counts not increasing: check that counting is enabled and the WordPress REST API is available. Repeated clicks may be rate limited.

Updates and removal

Check the Floaty page on Emaila Orbit for published packages and review the matching requirements before updating. Back up your site first. Deactivating the plugin stops it from running; deleting it from the WordPress Plugins screen removes its saved settings and analytics through the supplied uninstall routine.

Configure contact channels and appearance

Enable the channels you use, set their destinations and choose a layout.

Choose your channels

Open Floaty → Channels in WordPress administration. Enable a channel and enter its contact detail; both are required before its button can appear. Drag channel cards into the order you want, then select Save Changes.

The supplied channels are WhatsApp, Call, Email, SMS, Messenger, Telegram, Viber, Instagram and a custom link.

  • WhatsApp: enter a number with the country code using digits only, without a plus sign, spaces or dashes.
  • Call and SMS: use your intended phone number with its country code.
  • Email: enter the address that should receive messages. The message field provides the subject.
  • Messenger: enter the Facebook Page username or ID.
  • Telegram and Instagram: enter the username without an @ prefix.
  • Viber: enter the number with the country code using digits only.
  • Custom link: enter the full intended URL, such as your contact or booking page.

Check each resulting link on the devices your visitors use. Third-party services may require their own app or account and have their own terms and privacy policies.

Set the appearance

On Appearance, choose a toggle or expanded layout and the left or right position. Set colours, labels, offsets, size, shape and any greeting bubble. Preview the result against your own theme and check that buttons do not cover important site controls.

To open the widget from another element, add the CSS class floaty-open to your own link or button. Test keyboard access and the selected contact destinations before using it on a live site.

Choose display rules and business hours

Control devices, pages, login visibility and hours in your WordPress site timezone.

Display rules

Open Floaty → Display & Schedule. Choose desktop or mobile visibility and whether buttons appear on all pages, only listed pages or everywhere except listed pages.

List page IDs separated by commas. Use home for the front page or blog home; for example home, 12, 45. The logged-in-only option restricts the widget to signed-in WordPress visitors.

Business hours

Choose the days and start/end times when the widget should appear. These use the timezone in WordPress Settings → General, so confirm that setting first. The supplied plugin also supports overnight windows, such as 22:00 to 06:00.

Caching and checks

Page and schedule rules are evaluated when the page is generated. Full-page caching can continue serving an earlier result. Clear relevant caches after changes and review the cache lifetime for a time-dependent widget.

Test an allowed page and an excluded page, a mobile and desktop view, and times around your opening and closing boundaries. Confirm the result while signed out as well as signed in when using login visibility rules.

Install Floaty on WordPress

Download the supplied ZIP and install it through the WordPress Plugins screen.

Before you install

Floaty 1.0.0 declares WordPress 5.8 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. Check your own WordPress, theme and plugin combination on a staging site and keep a backup before changing a live installation.

Create an Orbit account and verify your email before downloading the package. The plugin is GPL v2 or later and does not require a paid licence, activation key or ionCube.

Upload and activate

  1. Download the Floaty ZIP from its page on Emaila Orbit, supplied as floaty-1.0.0.zip for this version. The original supplied package may be named floaty-floating-chat-contact-buttons.zip.
  2. In your WordPress administration, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the downloaded ZIP, select Install Now, then Activate Plugin.
  4. Open Floaty in the WordPress administration sidebar.
  5. Enable a channel, enter your contact details and select Save Changes. Visit your site to check the result.

Upload the plugin ZIP itself. The separate publishing kit is reference material and is not an installable WordPress plugin.

Where settings live

Your WordPress administrator manages Floaty and its settings. Your Orbit account does not sign you into WordPress or provide access to your website administration.
